conduction
Conduction is the process by which heat energy is transmitted through collisions between neigh boring atoms or molecules.

convection
Convection is a transfer of heat related to the movement that occurs within a fluid due to the rising of hotter materials paired with the sinking of colder materials. 

contraction
the process of becoming smaller. We heated up water in a can and flipped it into cold water and it crashed. 

expansion
the action of becoming larger or more extensive.
